About the rules of baccarat

Online Baccarat

Let’s start with the value of the cards first. Cards with numbers are worth exactly the number that is on them (so let’s say five of spades, 5). The only exception to this is card 10, because it has a value of 0. The value of an ace is one, while all other “figure” cards (jack, queen, king) are also 0.

At the same time, there is an important rule when calculating points; if the total value of the cards is two digits, the leftmost number is simply lost. Let’s say that we have drawn a 7 and an 8, the total is 15, but after the mandatory application of the previous rule, only 5. Thanks to the baccarat scoring principle, the highest value of the cards can thus be 9.

The goal of the game is to get as close as possible to this score of 9. At the start, both the player and the bank are dealt 2 cards each. If the value of the player’s cards is between 0-5, he automatically receives a third card.

Taking all of this into account, the game has three possible outcomes:

  • Player win
  • Banker win
  • Tie

Another twist in baccarat is that you can bet on yourself, the bank, or even that the final result will be a draw (tie).

If the player wins, he pays single money with odds of 1:1, if the bank wins, he also pays with odds of 1:1, but 5 percent is deducted from the winnings, while in case of a tie, he pays with odds of 8:1. (Regarding the different odds, the odds converter can be found here.).
